THE project
The STEMix project (Flash Resources for Gender Equality in STEM) is a European initiative launched as part of the Erasmus+ programme. This 30-month project (2025–2028) aims to transform the way young people perceive careers in science.
The under-representation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) remains a major challenge in Europe. This situation is often the result of powerful gender stereotypes that influence career choices from a very young age. STEMix tackles these barriers to promote more equal career guidance and spark young girls interest in these disciplines of the future.
At the heart of STEMix lies the creation of a kit of “flash” teaching resources. Unlike programmes that are lengthy and sometimes complex to implement, these quick activities (lasting 10 to 40 minutes) are designed to be combined : they can be easily integrated into any existing lesson, outreach workshop or educational activity.
These tools, tested with 500 pupils aged 8 to 15, help to break the ice, spark debate and challenge unconscious biases in a fun and impactful way.
In addition to the activity pack, the project will publish a summary of recommendations for inclusive educational practices. Training sessions and knowledge-sharing events will be organised in the four partner countries to disseminate these methods and create a lasting impact beyond the school environment.
Together, let’s make STEM a world where every child can say to themselves: “Science is for me too!”
