Flash Resources for Gender Equality in STEM
What are our goals?
FIGHT FOR GREATER GENDER EQUALITY
To help project partners develop their capacity to promote greater gender equality in guiding students and educators—in the broadest sense—toward careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)
COMBAT GENDER STEREOTYPES
Combat gender stereotypes in STEM and change the perceptions of educators and students to promote a more equitable orientation towards STEM studies and careers
DESIGN RESOURCES FOR EDUCATORS
Design “flash” activities that are easy to use in any educational setting, targeting educators as key agents for widespread dissemination
WHO IS STEMIX FOR?
For educational teams and educators
For teaching staff and educational professionals in formal education
For parents
For educational teams in informal education: science center outreach teams, activity leaders in youth organizations, after-school programs, etc.
For students (ages 8 to 15, depending on the country and in line with the age at which career choices are made)
For underserved areas: priority neighborhoods, potentially rural areas >> where possible, we will focus on the intersection of gender issues with the socioeconomic context, particularly for girls from working-class backgrounds: a double disadvantage in STEM career choices
